In Memory Of My Faithful Servant…

This memorial is in the Rutherfordton City Cemetery in Rutherfordton, NC. It stands by itself in the old 1800’s section of the cemetery, and what can be read of the inscription says. “In memory of my faithful and lamented servant Broch”. The rest of the inscription is mostly illegible, though it seems to be a Biblical passage. My two faithful servants, MJ and Sarah, pay their respects to ‘Broch’.

      1. I wrote a little blog post about it: https://themmedfords.wordpress.com/2017/06/20/grave-hunting-in-rutherfordton/

        I think the inscription says:
        To the memory of
        my faithful and lamented
        servant Enoch

        who departed this life
        June 14th 1862 in the
        9th year of his age

Take heed that ye despise not
        one of these little ones.
        Mat, Chap. 18 ver 10

And they shall be mine, saith
the LORD of hosts, in that day
when I make up my jewels
        Malachi Chap 3 ver 17
